Navigating between Hirafu, Kutchan, and the surrounding resorts is easiest by taxi.
While the area is beautiful, the winter conditions and high demand mean it’s best to plan ahead.

Ride-Hailing Apps
For most international travelers, using an app is the most convenient way to book. You can see your fare upfront and avoid any language barriers.
GO App
Japan's most popular taxi app. It works similarly to Uber and allows you to call local taxis. You can register international credit cards and phone numbers.
It is definitely worth downloading as it often has the largest fleet of connected drivers across Hokkaido. Find out more >
Uber
Operated in Niseko as Uber Taxi, connecting you with licensed local taxi drivers rather than private cars, allowing you to book and pay via the app. Find out more >

Pro Tips for a Smooth Ride
- Book Early: Between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM (dinner rush), taxis are in extremely high demand. If you have a dinner reservation, try to book your taxi at least 30–60 minutes in advance.
- Cash vs. Card: While most "Uber Taxi" and "GO" rides are paid in-app, some independent local drivers still prefer cash (Yen). Always keep a few ¥1,000 bills on you just in case.
- Pin Your Location: If using an app, ensure your GPS pin is accurate. Many small chalets in Niseko look identical in the dark!
Where to find Taxi Ranks
Walking out and finding a taxi "on the street" is rare in Niseko unless you are at a designated rank.
Hirafu
Hirafu Welcome Center: The main hub for buses and taxis.
Hirafu Intersection (The "Main" Cross): You can often find taxis waiting near the Hirafu 1-Chome area, specifically between Lawson and AYA Niseko.
Kutchan Town
JR Kutchan Station: There is a dedicated taxi rank immediately outside the front exit. This is the most reliable spot to find a car without calling one.
Hanazono
Park Hyatt Hanazono offers a high service level and has a taxi valet, but is quite far out. They will call taxis for diners/visitors, but be prepared for a "deadhead" fee or a long wait for a car to reach Hanazono.
Niseko Village
Hilton Niseko Village has active valet stand that can call a taxi for you and a large indoor waiting area
Annupuri
If you are visiting Annupuri for the day but staying elsewhere, the Niseko Northern Resort is your best "home base" for getting back.
- If you've spent money there: (Onsen, lunch, or drinks), don't hesitate to ask the concierge to call a car. They are very professional and helpful.
- If you're just passing through: It is better to use the GO App yourself while standing in the lobby. This saves the staff the effort and ensures the ride is linked directly to your phone/payment.
- The Shuttle Backup: The Niseko United Shuttle stops directly in front of Northern Resort. If the taxi wait is over 45 minutes (which happens!), the bus is often your fastest way out of Annupuri.
